An American’s Sorrow

An event in time

too surreal to believe

has befallen America

and rendered it too sad to grieve.

In the blink of an eye

and the span of an hour

America’s innocence was lost

its freedom devoured.

Our glorious towers

once stood so stunning and strong

are now reduced to rubble

by a humanity gone wrong.

Our beloved skyline

now missing its crown jewel

leaves a nation wondering aloud

how does someone grow so cruel.

Countless innocents lost in the terror

life as we know it probably changed forever.

A moment in hell

still frozen in time.

An American’s sorrow unending

yours and mine.
