Thanks to the Housing Authority, especially Melissa Mason

Dear Editor:

I am addressing this letter to the entire community of Hoboken and other surrounding communities.

Who or what have made a difference should be truly recognized by the community. The goals of the New Hoboken Housing Authority is to provide a safe and clean environment for the residents, but we as tenants must not allow anyone to come in and destroy our place of living.

The biggest aspect of my life right now is the satisfaction that I receive from the Hoboken Housing Authority Resident Department. Melissa Mason who is the Resident Services Department Manager is the angel who has been sent from above; she has kept the Resident Service Department up and running since she came on board. The Resident Services Department is greatly needed for the residents especially for the children and the seniors.

In my own experience I have encountered volunteering for the Residents Department on numerous occasions, and I will continue to do it until the day I die. I have learned throughout volunteering for the department that I can call upon Melissa Mason and the entire staff for just about anything, and not once has anyone stated to me that they could not help me; but more importantly, Melissa Mason goes out of her way to help just about anyone.

My heart bleeds every time the New Hoboken Housing Authority is ridiculed for not doing things fast enough or not doing things at all. Sometimes I think we forget that change plays a big part in our lives, and if we do not change, then we will miss out on big opportunities. Everything in life is a process, and we must adhere to processing things slowly so that we can reap the benefits of the plan.

I know in my heart and I believe that as a community we can pull together to help the New Hoboken Housing Authority bloom into a beautiful flower. I like flowers because they are beautiful, but they perish because of lack of caring. If we do not start thinking about getting the New Hoboken Housing Authority to bloom as flowers, then it too will perish.

I would hate to see our place of living ripped from under our feet; let all residents, neighbors, businesses and the entire community come together and grow with one another.

I would like to thank the Director, E. Troy Washington, for always taking an interest in how I am doing with my career, college and my family. More importantly, I thank Melissa Mason for always leading me in the right direction with my career and always keeping me in mind to volunteer as a motivational speaker, and to her staff and the entire New Hoboken Housing Authority for always responding to my family’s needs.

Remember, there’s no place like home.
