Dear Editor:
On behalf of Mr. Costello and myself, I would like to take this opportunity to thank and commend the faculty, staff, students and parents of Secaucus High School during the hour following the tragic events of September 11.
The professionalism displayed by the school employees in carrying out the orderly departure of students from school, and the cooperation of our students’ parents in arriving at the school in a timely fashion and remaining calm during the signing out process is much appreciated. Your actions allowed the administration and supervisors to establish and implement a plan that assured our children of a safe return to their homes.
Numerous teachers, special services personnel, supervisors and clerical staff stayed well beyond the school day with those students whose parents were unable to get home, providing comfort and reassurance.
Most importantly, though many of our students were frightened and concerned for loved ones, our student body conducted themselves in a way that makes us extremely proud.
Again, thank you, everyone for your extraordinary conduct during a very difficult time.
