The punishment should fit the crime

Dear Editor:

In regard to the vicious, deadly attack on Officer Infantes. It is strange that there aren’t any civic liberty groups crying out in defense of the culprits in Jersey City that committed the crime. Reverend Sharpton isn’t on a hunger strike, nor is the ACLU crying foul on the behalf of the men that did the crime.

The widow of Officer Infantes will bury her husband with full honors and receive the American Flag in her husband’s name. An inscription on the Statue of Liberty reads as follows: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, etc.”

Our government has become a refuge and sanctuary for the mutants and low lives as well. It’s a shame to say their constitutional rights are protected by our laws.

This doesn’t mean that there are no good, sincere, honest people migrating to our shores. It’s time that our government close the borders to outsiders and screen immigrants more closely.

Let’s hope that swift justice is meted out to those who committed this deadly crime on Officer Infantes.
