In the face of tragedy our community came together

Dear Editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, not only in Union City, but throughout Hudson County, who were thoughtful enough to make a donation of money, clothing, food, furniture or other items to the victims of the Mother’s Day fire here in Union City.

We are overwhelmed with the generosity and caring of our neighbors who carried bundles of items to City Hall or called us to pick items up for the families who lost everything in this devastating fire. Just about everyone victimized by the fire has now been relocated to permanent housing, and because of the benevolence of all of you, they are able to put their homes, and their lives, back in order.

Katia and I, the Union City Board of Commissioners, the members of the Brian Stack Civic Association and everyone at City Hall who were involved in this effort, are proud of our community and how we are able to come together in the face of tragedy to help each other.

On behalf of all of us, and especially on behalf of the people who benefitted from your donations, thank you so very much.

Brian and Katia Stack
