All in the family
I loved the feature on Shirley Temple of Doom (“Putting People on Notice,” May 31). Of course, I’m a bit biased, as I am a relative of percussionist Billy Atwell. The article did a great job of describing the band’s type of varying music styles. (I am a music teacher, and Billy and I talk about his group at holiday gatherings.) Thanks for the great article. I look forward to hearing the CD. – Ann Mayle

I had the opportunity to eat at The Sushi Lounge [in Hoboken] three times, and it is a wonderful restaurant (“Sushi with style”). The sushi is the best I have had next to Nobu in NYC. Fresh and unique is how I would explain the food. The staff and service is fantastic and I look forward to going to this eatery twice a month. I wish you would have given it four stars. – Robert Taylor

Unfortunately, we don’t work with a “star” system. We find it too un-egalitarian. But we liked the Lounge a lot.

Fawning fan
I really enjoyed the article on D.J. Smith (“Life in Watercolors,” May 31) and I commend you on promoting hot new talent in the art world of New Jersey. I have been a big fan of D.J.’s for some time and it was truly heartwarming to see him get the credit he deserves. Check out the collection at Park Pastries. You’ll be glad you did. Soon, everyone will have a piece of D.J. Smith. I plan on commissioning him to do the art in my whole house one day. Thanks for the article, and good luck, D.J.!!! – Marc Cregan

That’s a lot of watercolors.

Wonk like a man
Who do you think will win the NJ Republican primary – Schundler, or Franks? And where’s the missing D.C. intern? – Mel

We’re an arts paper. We don’t know. The answer to your first question is: Whoever dresses better.

Could you recommend a motorcycle to buy?
We’re an arts paper. That said, please try to get one that doesn’t vroom, vroom as loud as the ones on the streets of Hoboken.
