Dear Editor:
I am a 7th grade student attending Weehawken High School. I am writing to you about the very serious problem that President George W. Bush seems to deny exists.
I’m talking about global warming. There is so much evidence concerning global warming. There are problems all over the world. For example, President Bush has made a $2.3 billion cut in global warming and air and water protections. I strongly feel that President Bush just isn’t concerned enough. Based on statistics, the U.S. has contributed 186.1 billion tons of C02 emissions since 1950.
Also President Bush disapproved of the 1997 Kyoto treaty against global warming. If America doesn’t sign, they might send a message to other nations not to sign it either. Another fact is that America is only 4 percent of the world’s population, but produces 25 percent of its greenhouse gases.
Finally, the icebergs in Antarctica are melting ten times faster and may cause the oceans to flood.
In conclusion, the President should do something right now and fast. We can prevent many problems that will happen in the future.
