To the residents of Secaucus

Dear Editor:

As fellow residents who chose to become volunteer members of the Secaucus Fire Department, stationed at Rescue 1/ Engine 2 Firehouse in the North End of town, we felt it was necessary to assure the residents of our community that it always was and will continue to be our intention to serve the residents of Secaucus in the highest regard.

Against our wishes, we are writing a letter to defend our character and pride against repeated published stories. These stories come from a non-resident, senior staff writer (Secaucus Reporter) who emphasizes slander and negativity towards the department.

We at the North End Firehouse, who seem most targeted, provide many specialty services besides fire calls. For example, we handle motor vehicle accidents, oil and chemical spills, marine emergencies, lighting, elevator emergencies and carbon monoxide alarms. These along with constant updates on training require us to sacrifice many hours away from our families. We, along with our families, take these articles extremely personal. As Firefighters, it is our genuine concern for the care and safety of others that comes first. We will continue to provide the most cost effective, highest quality, professional service to the community.

We ask that you take a moment and reflect on the benefits from our dedicated services over the years and share your comments with your local town officials or local newspaper showing your support towards the Secaucus Fire Department.

Our record speaks for itself. Help us keep our Pride…you can’t afford not to!

Thank you.
