Thankful for the dedicated and intelligent people that run our township

Dear Editor:

I was appalled when I read the Friends of the Weehawken Waterfront are in favor of an old New Jersey Transit proposal to construct an elevator on Boulevard East so that commuters can access our waterfront. So, you can imagine my delight when I read Councilman Terlizzi’s letter stating that Mayor Turner and the administration are strongly against this proposal.

Councilman Terlizzi was 100 percent correct. New Jersey Transit would promote the elevator to commuters far and wide to justify its cost. This would create traffic, pollution and litter problems day and night in a residential area.

The councilman’s alternative, a shuttle bus along Boulevard East for Weehawken residents, makes a lot more sense.

I am thankful that the township is being run by thoughtful, intelligent, dedicated people and not by the “Friends” of the Weehawken Waterfront.
