Thank you all for your overwhelming support

Dear Editor:

Three years ago, I met with a small group of Hoboken residents who were concerned about the direction in which our city was headed. At the time we had more questions than answers, but we had a definitive purpose, to return respect and civility to City Hall and to unite our community.

As the weeks and months went by, that small group became what is now Hoboken United. While the organization has changed in size and shape, our purpose remains the same. It was that purpose which helped us get through many hard fights and times of doubt.

Along with Ruben Ramos, Carol Marsh and Tony Soares, I would like to thank Hoboken’s voters for their overwhelming support in the municipal election on May 8. We are humbled by your show of confidence in us and our purpose, and we are anxious to begin serving you come July 1.

We are going to get right to work on the important issues facing Hoboken: stopping irresponsible development, controlling taxes and ending the parking and traffic mess. But most important, we’re going to return City Hall to you, the citizens of Hoboken.

I am excited to begin working for all of you as your new mayor, and again, thank you all for your support.

David Roberts
