Dear Editor:
I keep hearing mayoral candidate David Roberts talk about over-development. Obviously, this is a “catch-phrase” that he decided would bring him supporters.
I’ve lived in Hoboken for many years, and I can tell you our city has never looked better. We now have beautiful new parks, nice apartment buildings that pay full taxes, and every property owner in Hoboken has benefitted through increased value of their property.
Under prior administrations, where Roberts exerted influence, Hoboken had many dilapidated buildings and our streets were filthy. Empty lots were infested with rodents. Arson was used to evict tenants from buildings. Now he even blames the Mayor for a 1993 tax increase that he voted for!
Never mind the campaign rhetoric, I’m sticking with a full-time mayor, not a full-time bar owner, full-time developer who wants to be a part-time mayor. Mayor Anthony Russo has delivered on his promises and Hoboken has never looked better!
