A ‘bundle’ of phone services can cost a bundle

Dear Editor:

They are back again. Verizon wants to raise our phone rates. Unless you’re under a rock, you cannot help but see their commercials from “Live With Regis” to “Judge Judy.” Every half hour it is pitching a bundle of what we don’t need or want.

I recently received a phone call from Verizon and was able to tell them how I felt about raising my phone rates. All I wanted was my local phone line and my 1010 number for long distance. I wasn’t interested in a “bundle” such as Caller ID, 3 Way Calling, etc. Verizon hung up on me.

In short, for all the millions Verizon has spent on their advertising, is there any excuse why we, as Hoboken residents, have to pay their bill for a phone increase? From N.J. Bell to Bell Atlantic to Verizon, we will have to pay up because we have no other to choose from.
