The lowest brow
I’ve never even heard of the Pollock (“Current cinema: Pollock,” March 1). Where does JoAnne Steglitz find out about these artsy, esoteric movies? – Harold, Hoboken

While Pollock certainly isn’t a Star Wars-style blockbuster, Ed Harris and Marcia Gay Harden were nominated for Academy Awards, so it can’t be all that esoteric.

Alias, maybe
Who is this Ellie T. Culteur who wrote last weeks “The Cultural elite: A sampling of those to watch in Hudson County in 2001″? I’ve never seen her name before. Is she a new staff writer? – David, Jersey City

Yeah, she’s a new staff writer, that’s the ticket.

Thanks for nothing
After reading JoAnne Steglitz’s article “Purple haze: Air Studios hosts ethereal photo exhibit,” (March 1), I innocently went to check out Laurel Jensen’s photographs. While I really liked the pictures, I ended up spending $100 on clothes and accessories ($100 that I can’t afford) at Air Studios, which I now know is not an art gallery but a clothing store that happens to exhibit art. Thanks for nothing. – Jessica C., Weehawken

The first line of Steglitz’s story reads, “It seems entirely appropriate that the walls of Hoboken’s VINTAGE AND DESIGNER CLOTHING STORE, Air Studios …” So, Jessica, you’re very welcome!

Knee slapper
I was just wondering if you guys know how many writers it takes to screw in a light bulb? – Kenneth, Hoboken.

No we don’t. Why don’t you tell us.
