Annette Illing: Who are you?…and where are you from?

Dear Editor:

Annette, my name is Kenneth G. Metcalfe, born and raised in Hoboken, resident of Applied Housing and Board Member of Applied Housing Tenants Association.

In response to a recent article in the Hoboken Reporter, I am questioning why you would call this Association of Tenants a “sham.” I have never met you. Have you ever met anyone on the Board of the Applied Housing Tenants Association?

Are you the only person that belongs to a legitimate Association? What Applied building do you live in?

Applied Housing has been, is, and probably always will be the best provider, advocate and maintainer of low-income, affordable housing in this fine city of Hoboken. For the past 30 years Applied Housing also has employed many of Hoboken’s citizens. Our Tenants Assoc. was newly formed so that we, the “real” tenants who live in the Applied Housing buildings might protect ourselves from a variety of outsiders, organizations that have not spoken with a single tenant. They include, naming a few, the Public Interest Law Center of N.J., Helen Hirsch, the Housing and Community Development Net of N.J., Tenants Preservation Project of N.J. Who are these people and where are they from?

The point is and the fact remains, we could have lost an unthinkable number of low income residents if Mr. Joseph Barry and the State D.C.A. did not come up with this current agreement. It is a good agreement for all. Stay out of it Annette.
