Through diligent team work, the residents of St. Lucy’s Shelter were able to keep a little warmer

Dear Editor:

The City of Jersey City recently had an opportunity to be of help to the residents of St. Lucy’s Shelter. The following thank you letter was addressed to me from the Community Services and reads as follows:

“On behalf of Catholic Community Services/St. Lucy’s Shelter, I would like to thank you personally for your donation of 14 large boxes and 37 plastic bags of sweaters sent to our shelter. Your donation will become part of our efforts to provide clothing to 80 residents staying with us each night.

It is thoughtful people like you that help to contribute to the less fortunate people in our society.

I thank you not only for the donation but also for the thoughtfulness that accompanied it.

Sincerely,
Maria Rodriguez, Administrative Assistant
St. Lucy’s Shelter”

The above mentioned sweaters became the legal property of the City of Jersey City and it was through the diligent team work of city officials, employees and police support services that these gifts were made possible for so many less fortunate people: Ramon P. Tolentino, Director of Purchasing & Central Services; William Gaughan, Councilman, Ward D; Robert Bryne, City Clerk; Tom DeGise, Council President; Tom Dolan, Aide to Councilman Bill Gaughan; Dave Gambert, Deputy Director of Support Services and Lt. Robert Troy, Property Room.

Again thank you for a job well done.

Bill Gaughan, Councilman Ward D
