Concerning the Academy Bus service

Dear Editor:

An open letter to Mr. R. Keller (Academy Bus):

Thanks for your professional response, it was very informative. Perhaps Academy Bus managers should make their presence more visible in the Hoboken area. That way other people will realize that Academy is trying to address the crowding issues.Kindly keep in mind that the building boom in Hoboken is not half way over yet (the top of 14th is just being populated and the lower waterfront is next). In addition, the new building in the Newport area will only amplify the problem. Your organization with NJ Transit should devise a master plan on how to improve the transit flow (close streets, special lanes, etc.) Perhaps other bus companies could be contracted to added additional capacity.

My personal concern is to promptly get to work. How or who takes me to the PATH station does not matter to me (legal or illegal). If the situation gets worse, I am guessing you could find a gypsy style van service going along Washington Street like Kennedy Blvd.

The arrival of the light rail system will likely not help you here. I suspect most of your rush hour passengers going into the NYC live in the front of Hoboken, not the back. So the answer to the big question of how many people they can fit in Hoboken will likely be surfacing soon.
