Remember, things could always be worse

Dear Editor:

I would like to personally thank the Hoboken Police Department and the Hoboken Fire Department for getting me through a very upsetting and difficult situation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, I parked my car by City Hall and entered the building to start work. A short time later, a co-worker informed me that my car was on fire. Both the police and fire departments responded and immediately took control of this potentially dangerous situation. I was obviously very distraught at the sight of my car on fire and the police and firemen on duty reacted with concern and compassion.

Although my car was lost, I think of how much worse this situation could have been had there been an explosion. Firemen and policemen put their lives on the line every day. I just want you men to know, you are a credit to the department on which you serve and to the City of Hoboken.
