Every little bit helps when it comes to parking in Hoboken!

Dear Editor:

This following letter is for Mayor Anthony Russo:

On behalf of the tenants that reside at 459 9th Street and 460 8th Street, I address this request to you.

Brand new luxury apartments and condos are near completion as well as the enormous Columbus Towers that surround the Hoboken Housing “Columbus Gardens.” Everyone knows that each new building comes equipped with parking which we are realizing is only a fractional solution to the parking problem.

These structures are almost completed. Only a few residents have moved in and parking is extremely scarce already. We feel like prisoners already because you cannot go anywhere that involves using your vehicle after 5 p.m.

So I propose this and I just know you will agree. Just as you made sure that parking provisions were a part of every new building, I thought it reasonable that the parking slots that surround Columbus Gardens on Jefferson and Adams be used solely for the residents of Columbus Gardens. Now we all know that when you add up the amount of residents of Columbus Gardens verses parking spaces, we come up real short, but every little bit helps.

I can’t tell you how upsetting it is to watch all the parking being snatched up and feeling there is nothing you can do about it. Therefore, I appeal to you and hope that you will consider this request to help alleviate the frustration that all this over-development has caused.

This brings to mind a funny phrase that my husband occasionally uses and it goes like this: “You can’t stuff a 10 lb. bag of potatoes in a 5 lb. sack.” Likewise, you can’t stuff a city with so many people if there’s no place for them to park their car.

Stuffed already
