Jersey City has always been rich in history

Dear Editor: I have to comment on your May 7, 2000 article on Forgotten History. The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy must be something of a new entity because for the last several years they sat back and did nothing while our history has been carted off to the dumpsters. The city of Jersey City is probably one of the most historic areas in the U.S., but politicians, power companies and big business have destroyed our history. Your little area downtown is only a tiny portion of the great history of Jersey City. Unfortunately we do not have a professional historic commission and people in political office who care.
