Dear Editor: I wanted to take this time to share what I believe to be a good human-interest story. I was suspended from my job on March 13, 2000. In my case, the common phrase, “bad things can happen to good people,” happened in a huge way. I lost a money order worth $825, blank of course, then the loss of my job after four weeks of suspension due to a medical reason. I was wrongfully terminated with all the proper Physician documentation. Well enough of that, this letter is not about me. I just wanted to share my experiences with the North Hudson Community Action Agency. The respect I received as a single man was overwhelming. The staff there went above and beyond the call of duty in making sure I had food to eat in the form of a voucher, advising me of my rights because I was unable to pay rent as of yet, as well as assisting me in a job search. I feel too many people of this day and age write letters complaining and not enough praising for a “job well done.” I hope this letter appeals as a small human interest story. There are kind people still in the State of New Jersey in a private, non-profit social service organization. Thomas Montemarano
