Enlivening Ourselves

<B>Dear Dr. Norquist:

I have been dating a wonderful, wonderful man for about a year. He’s 35-years-old and I’m 27. I am about to leave the relationship even though it isn’t really broken. The problem is our differing approaches toward life. I am on a career track, I work hard and enjoy earning money and seem to have lots of earning potential. He is pretty much the opposite; it’s not that he’s against working, but he wants to ocean kayak, rock climb, ski and lead tours to Central America. We used to joke that he would become a house-husband and I would earn all the money. He is nearly $20,000 in debt, the result of a previous relationship, that he has little chance of paying off.

I love him. Now I am considering breaking things off. He is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man I know and is attractive, decent, and devoted to me.
