Sorry, Soares

Dear Editor: Well, what a surprise! I wonder if Councilman Tony Soares is finally awake now that his team lost the School Board election. He was on such a high after he won a special election last November that he really thought his election would carry over into this year. Well, as we all know, Tony won for one simple reason. Not because he is as popular as he thinks he is, because actually, he’s not very popular at all. He won simply because his name was placed by pure chance in Column B with the Democratic candidates that received broad support in what is predominately a Democratic city. People just voted straight down the line, many not even realizing they were voting by mistake for someone they didn’t want to vote for. Despite the backing his school ticket received from his fellow “Hoboken Divided” obstructionists, Dave Roberts, Ruben Ramos, Bernie Kenny and Maurice Fitzgibbons, Tony Soares fell flat on his face. They all did on Tuesday. The people recognize your need for power, Tony. Admit it. Your election was a fluke! Pasquale DeStefano P.S. Happy Easter to the citizens of Hoboken
