Clean Up Day, productive as well as fun

Dear Editor: The Weehawken Environment Committee would like to express our sincere thanks to all who participated in the Fourth Annual Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 8. Members of the community, the staff from public works, the mayor and members of the town council all joined together in making the day fun and productive. Although the weather report was dire, which perhaps discouraged some people from attending, the day turned out to be sunny and cool, perfect weather for our efforts. Those of us who were working around Old Glory Park were even to treated to the sight of a majestic hawk circling overhead. It was a good reminder that any effort we make to preserve and protect our environment, no matter how small, from our little backyards to our glorious cliffs, has a beneficial impact on all its citizens, feathered, furry, or otherwise. Again, sincere thanks to all. Maggie Raywood Weehawken Environment Committee
