The Albany trial

I looked at the trial in Albany, New York Of four white cops who were prejudice dorks. They wouldn’t shoot a dog like they did him Justice be justice for life now looks dim. How could you shoot Diallo forty one times You, you evil vile men, you know it’s a crime. I can’t see the justice in such a nasty act You killed this innocent man because he was black. How many more black men have to be shot and killed Be for your hatred is satisfied and fulfilled. One had the nerve to be on the stand crying I’m sure he never touched the man while he was dying. We blacks are second class citizens whose freedom is not won But for Diallo and his parents we have to pray, be strong. There is a God in heaven and his eyes are on this wrong We must keep fighting for our freedom, we must carry on. I looked at this one on the witness stand crying crocodile tears He’s only crying because he’s going to jail, that’s his fears. Why do you hate us so? God gave us this dark skin you see Why can’t you love us for who we are, that’s the key. You are evil vile men who were taught to hate your fellow man But hate and prejudice will not hold up when we take a stand. And look past the skin, see the heart and all the good within One step in that direction is where the love and trust begins. Georgia McLane Collins, R.A.
