SCOREBOARD

Sorry streak, insubordination just fuel the fire around beleaguered Peacock coach at SPC

Just three weeks ago, I led this column with a bit about the St. Peter’s College men’s basketball team, how it seemed after a 3-9 tough start, the Peacocks had started to turn their fortunes around. They had won two straight games in impressive fashion. They showed some continuity and consistency. They seemed to have life.

There was hope that perhaps the Peacocks could catch magic in a bottle, like they did a year ago, when they went, in almost miraculous fashion, from league also-ran to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference final. After all, it was basically the same team as a year ago. Perhaps it could happen again.

Yeah, right.

Three weeks later, after I was duped into thinking that there was life at Harvard on the Boulevard, the Peacocks are done. Finished. Caput. Plucked of their plumage.
