Dear Editor: Normally, I don’t read the Hoboken Reporter, but when I picked it up this week there was an article about Mr. Garcia that drew my attention. I personally do not know Mr. Soares, but I have had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Garcia who is quite outspoken. As a matter of fact, the quotes I read did not sound like Mr. Garcia. I am a proud homeowner here in Hoboken. The reason why my family was able to remain residents of Hoboken was because of my mortgage banker Carmelo Garcia. When I went to Mr. Garcia, I was not sure whether I could purchase my rented unit after my building was converted to condominiums. Fortunately, Carmelo was very professional and sensitive to my needs. He was able to prepare and consult me on how we were going to be getting approved for the mortgage. He placed me in a special first time homebuyer program which no other bank could offer. I received a great rate and only had to place 3 percent down to buy my condo, considering the circumstances. I just feel that it is unfair to read the paper and see them or someone trying to tarnish Mr. Garcia’s credibility with rumors, but for those who have worked with him and know him would agree with me that he is responsible, professional and very knowledgeable.
