We do not have to sacrifice our parkland for a new school

Dear Editor: I am writing this letter in opposition to the proposed plan to build a school in Hudson County’s Braddock Park. I am sympathetic to the need for better schools in the area as I come from a family of educators. My parents were teachers as are my three sisters and one brother. However, I do not believe that the best option is to take away any of our space and precious parkland. With good planning and thought an alternative site can be found. The parking lot behind the school comes immediately to mind. We have enough concrete and steel in North Bergen. Our beautiful park is a priceless gift that cannot be taken for granted and desecrated. Please help save our parkland! Maria Marrero
