Secaucus volleyball coach Maria Nolan and former local sportswriter and current St. Peter’s College administrator Fred Cranwell are among the 17 worthy inductees who will be inducted into the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame. The Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame, which will hold its 10th annual induction dinner at the Hi-Hat Restaurant in Bayonne on Thursday, Jan. 27, beginning at 6 p.m., will once again honor some of the most prestigious sports figures of today and yesteryear. Nolan, the state’s all-time winningest coach with 471 wins and 14 state championships, will be among three women honored. The others are St. Peter’s College hoop standout Blanche Jones and Stevens Tech fencing coach Linda Volkhommer-Lynch. Some of the others to be inducted include former North Bergen track standout Gene Mancino, former Duke and Fairfield basketball star Richie O’Connor of Union City, former NJSIAA executive director Robert Kanaby and former St. Mary’s of Jersey City basketball coach Bill Kuchar.
